I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?
Jeremiah 32:27 (NIV)

What an amazingly reassuring and uplifting verse, brimming with hope and endless possibilities. But how does this work out in the daily reality of our lives?

It challenges me to take off my containment glasses and trust God to stretch me beyond what I ever imagined for my life. To stop trying to work things out through my own "superhuman" solutions and WAIT for His leading.

WAITING…. not a popular activity these days. It's counter cultural in a world where being busy often = successful and productive. But I have found that intentionally waiting is a very hard thing to do. My natural reaction is to make a list and get the job done, so for me, waiting often feels fearful and frustrating.

Slowing down to intentionally wait for Gods lead and guidance doesn't come naturally to me! But the Bible shows us time and again the value of this practice.

Think of Esther. Forced from the security of her home, she found herself one of 400 in the Miss Persia beauty pageant 480 BC. Married to the most powerful king on the earth at that time, on whose whim you could live or die. Imagine how she must have felt when she discovered Haman's plan of genocide for all the Jews, including herself!

Esther waited 3 days with this knowledge. During this time, she prayed and fasted, leaning into the Lord for guidance. Those 3 days must have felt like 3 years.

By waiting, Esther's patience allowed her to totally rely on the Lord and in so doing, His authority increased her strength, her wisdom and gave her a plan. She grew courage, enabling her to step into the king's presence uninvited, risking death, but which ultimately saved the Jewish nation. God was moving in ways Esther couldn’t see at the time, but by waiting and trusting for His timing, her actions saved a nation and an evil plan was destroyed.

You or I may not be called to save a nation from genocide but surely the principles are the same. Whatever season we are at in life, whatever our hopes, desires, worries or dreams are, lets lean in and wait for His lead, remembering Jesus words.

With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.
Matt 19:26 (ESV)
